The “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values” Program has as its main objective the protection and promotion of the rights and values of the European Union. This is achieved through the funding of civil society actions that are active at local, regional, national, and international levels.
The Hellenic Police, having as its basic mission to ensure respect for human dignity, freedom, equality, and the protection of human rights, and with the aim of cultivating, protecting, promoting, and implementing these rights and values, sought and realized its participation in the CERV funding program, co-financed by European and National Resources.
Specifically, the Program aims to:
- Protect and promote the values of the EU, such as the rule of law and democracy.
- Promote equality and combat discrimination based on sex, race, religion, disability, age, or sexual orientation.
- Encourage the participation of citizens in the democratic life of the EU and promote exchanges between citizens of different Member States.
- Combat violence, including gender-based violence.
The Program funds a wide range of activities, such as awareness campaigns, training, mutual learning, research, and capacity building. In addition, it supports actions that promote European memory and heritage, town twinning, and the active participation of citizens.
