«LAGO»: Lessen Data Access and Governance Obstacles

The Hellenic Police is participating in the research project entitled “Lessen Data Access and Governance Obstacles” with the acronym “LAGO”, of the “Horizon-Europe” funding programme.

This project started on 01/11/2022 and has a duration of twenty-four (24) months, with a total of twenty-five (25) participants from Greece, Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Cyprus, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Sweden and Estonia, including eighteen (18) research organisations and seven (7) police authorities.

The goal of LAGO is to create an innovative “Research Data Ecosystem” that will significantly enhance efforts to combat crime and terrorism across the EU. This ecosystem will address the lack of qualitative and quantitative data needed for the effective training and evaluation of new methods, platforms and tools in the field of security.

Through the development of an advanced architecture, the LAGO ecosystem will allow the secure storage, efficient sharing and joint creation of research data. This initiative will enhance cooperation between police authorities, EU services, legislators, academics and other key stakeholders, promoting innovation and effectiveness in combating crime.

The participation of the Hellenic Police in LAGO project underlines its commitment to utilizing technological developments and strengthening European cooperation to address modern security challenges.
