Administrative Regularisation of Foreign Nationals
The Hellenic Police is responsible for issuing residence documents and permits to specific categories of foreign nationals. In particular, the competent Authorities of the Hellenic Police issue the following documents:
- Registration Certificate for Citizens of the Union and Permanent Residence Document for Citizens of the Union to citizens of EU Member States, the European Economic Area (EEA) countries, and the Swiss Confederation
- Special Identity Card for Aliens of Hellenic Descent and Uniform Format Residence Permit to Aliens of Hellenic Descent coming from Albania and Turkey, and Special Identity Card for Aliens of Hellenic Descent to Aliens of Hellenic Descent coming from former USSR countries
- Uniform Format Residence Permit to the United Kingdom nationals, who are beneficiaries of the Withdrawal Agreement of the United Kingdom from the European Union
- Residence permit and Special Identity Card for Foreign Refugees to recognized refugees, and residence permit to beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, whose application for international protection was submitted by 06-06-2013
- Residence permit to family members of beneficiaries of international protection in cases of family reunification, whose application for international protection was submitted by 06-06-2013
- Travel Document (T.D.V.) to recognized refugees and, under certain conditions, to beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, whose application for international protection was submitted by 06-06-2013
- Travel Document (T.D.V.) for stateless persons, according to the 1954 New York Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons
The competent police Authorities, depending on the case, include the Aliens Division of Attica and Thessaloniki, Departments of Aliens of Attica and Thessaloniki, the Sub-Directorates and Departments of Crime Investigation and Prosecution, and the Police Departments handling foreign nationals’ affairs across the rest of Greece.
