The Hellenic Police is participating in the research project entitled “INTERCEPT ONLINE RECRUITMENT AND ADVERTISEMNT TO DISRUPT THE THB MODEL” with the acronym “INTERCEPTED”, under the “ISF-PJG” funding programme.
This project started on 01/04/2023 and has a duration of twenty-four (24) months, with a total of six (6) participants from four (4) European countries (Italy, Greece, Germany and Spain), including public and private partners sector, led by the Prosecutor’s Office of Trieste in Italy, in collaboration with Ministries and institutions specializing in security and prevention.
“INTERCEPTED” project carefully addresses both the supply and demand side of THB, ensuring that all actors facilitating trafficking can be better brought to justice and increasing the potential for (potential) victims to be identified and protected at the earliest possible stage, focusing at five key – objectives:
- Objective 1: Highlighting how the internet is used in the human trafficking chain,
- Objective 2. Design an “early intervention” tool,
- Objective 3: Strengthening the capacities of Law Enforcement Authorities and Justice, in public-private sector cooperation,
- Objective 4. Establish a common European mechanism for detecting and reporting “suspicious online recruitment and advertising”,
- Objective 5. Strengthening the digital skills and knowledge of Law Enforcement Authorities.
In summary, the “INTERCEPTED” project will design and develop customized research technologies for human trafficking, develop all necessary training tools and materials required for the research strategy and commit to the highest transferability and dissemination of the results.
