Police Lieutenant General
Born in Athens, Attica, in 1966.
Joined the Hellenic Police Force in 1985. Graduated from the Hellenic Police Constables’ School in 1986, the Sergeants’ School in 1989 and the Officers’ School in 1993.
Served in both operational and staff positions within the Hellenic Police and completed all required Hellenic Police Schools.
Holds Master’s Degrees from the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and the University of Piraeus.
Holds a Specialisation Certificate in “Information Systems Security Management” from the Athens University of Economics and Business.
Served as a Justice and Home Affairs Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Greece to the European Union from 2010 to 2015.
Chaired various working groups during the Hellenic Presidencies of the Council of the European Union in 2003 and 2014.
Served as Greece’s Representative on the Management Board of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) from 2016 to 2024.
Served as Greece’s National Representative on numerous Working Groupsof the Council of the European Union, as well as on Expert Groups of the European Commission, on matters falling within the remit of the Hellenic Police.
Served as a European Commission expert on actions and programmes in third countries in the context of their EU accession process.
Delivered lectures at universities and international scientific conferences on migration, border protection and hybrid threats.
Fluent in English.
Awarded all decorations, medals and commendations corresponding to rank and seniority.
Appointed Chief of the Hellenic Police by the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence (KYSEA) and promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant Generalon 16 January 2024.
